NFPA 70E for EHS and Management
Course Description:
This 2-day, instructor-led course will explain how to bring your facility into compliance for electrical safety. This course covers OSHA requirements set forth in 29 CFR 1910 Subpart S and 1926 Subpart K and is based on the National Fire Protection Association NFPA 70E® 2018 Electrical Safety in the Workplace standard. This electrical safety course covers qualified and unqualified electrical worker requirements, arc flash hazards, job safety analysis and planning, PPE requirement, boundaries, equipment labeling, risk assessments and the requirements for an electrical safety program.
Upon completion of this course you will be able to:
- Explain why a safety program directed at electrical hazards is necessary and beneficial
- Explain the procedures for establishing an electrically safe working condition
- Complete and identify the steps for an arc flash risk assessment
- Explain the difference between electrical hazards and risk
- Identify the information needed for and perform a shock hazard analysis
- Explain the intent and limitations of PPE that is prescribed by NFPA 70E
- Understand the importance of maintenance of various types of electrical equipment and protective equipment as well as normal operating conditions
- Explain the dangers associated with electrical shock and the arc event

- Personnel who are involved in the design and maintenance of the facility’s electrical power system and are part of the electrical safety for the facility.
